Craig E. Wagner was born in Ottumwa, Iowa. Mr. Wagner received his undergraduate and law degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. After graduation from law school in 1976 Mr. Wagner moved to the Denver/Aurora, Colorado area, and since then he has been a licensed Colorado attorney. After practicing as an associate attorney in private practice for four years, Mr. Wagner opened Craig Wagner Law Firm in 1980. While he has remained a solo practitioner, he has been Special Counsel or Of Counsel with different law firms in Arapahoe County or Denver since that time, and most recently officed with Denver Trial Lawyers in the Denver Tech Center.
Mr. Wagner served as President of the Arapahoe County Bar Association in 1983-1984, and he has remained active in said local bar association since then, currently serving as Treasurer of the Arapahoe County Bar Foundation. Mr. Wagner received the Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year Award from the Colorado Bar Association in 1985, and the Colorado Bar Association Certificate of Professionalism in 1991. Mr. Wagner is a past board member of the Colorado Bar Association Board of Governors and the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, and currently serves as a member of the Colorado Bar Association Ethics Committee and the Colorado Bar Association Judicial Liaison Section.
Mr. Wagner is a YMCA volunteer in the Denver area and has been since 1980. He currently serves on the board of the Aurora YMCA, having most recently chaired that board after chairing the boards of the Highline YMCA and the Littleton YMCA. In September 2018 Mr. Wagner was inducted into the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver Hall of Fame.
Mr. Wagner has been an active member of the Rotary Club of Aurora since 1984, was President of that Club in 1997-1998, and was Chairman of the Aurora Rotary Foundation for several years thereafter.
Mr. Wagner is also a prior board member of the American Heart Association of Colorado and Wyoming.
